Giving is part of God's economy: it's a God principle. There are many examples of giving right throughout the Bible - in both Testaments. The Apostle Paul encourages us to be cheerful givers (2 Corinthians 9:7) because it is more blessed to give than receive (Acts 20:35). Jesus, Himself, talked about the necessity of giving, not just as a mindless, proud or legalistic action, but as something flowing from the generosity in our hearts (Luke 18:9-14 and Luke 11:42).
As you become part of Ascension Church, you may want to contribute to the ministry we do. You can do this in several ways:
- Placing money (cash or cheques) in the offering bags during our Sunday service.
- Placing money (cash or cheques) in a named/marked envelope and then putting in the offering bags during the Sunday service. (This would ensure that you will receive a tax receipt at the end of the financial year. As an individual, donations up to 33% of your taxable income can be claimed as a rebate.)
- Deposit money into our church bank account. This can be done by setting up an automatic payment or by making one-off payments when you choose. Our bank account number is 02-0924-0437675-000 (Southern City Church). This is about to change. Announcement to come.
OTHER WAYS WE CAN GIVE
Of course, there are other ways we can also give. In God, balance is key. God wants a balance of faith and works. This also means a balance of giving. God wants all of us - not just our tithe. He wants our surrender and submission. He wants our hearts. We would encourage you to give to God first, before serving in the Church. This means that we give of ourselves in a relationship with Him: praise and worship, in prayer, and in our reading and studying of His Word.
