Our Values
Ascension Church has five core values that guide and shape everything we do. These values are expressed in the make-up of our church and we would like to share them with you.
Relationship
One of the first things God does with mankind is to underline the importance of relationship, both with Him and with each other. Living in a way that creates successful and rewarding relationships is one of the primary themes in the Word of God.
We actively encourage people to have a deep, personal, and life changing relationship with God. Ascension Church also focuses on constantly developing opportunities for building corporate relationship with God through Sunday worship services, weekly discipleship, and daily prayer meetings held every lunch time Monday through Friday.
At Ascension we believe being part of a vibrant and loving church is essential for becoming robust, positive, men and women of God. A strong sense of personal self worth and connection grows in a community where people love and support one another, so we intentionally develop opportunities to get together and enjoy each other’s company. We have a shared lunch every Sunday after the worship service from February to November and a summer sports and BBQ programme during December and January. We also host a variety of social activities every month, run men’s and women’s groups, and we celebrate the end of the year with our own version of a Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner.

Growth
Our focus on growth has many expressions because we understand its importance. Life is always moving and changing and we believe constant growth is essential for navigating the inevitable twists and turns. We equip people to embrace positive personal character growth in their families, workplaces, and thought-life, because the person we can (and should) most effectively influence for Jesus is ourselves! To support this we run corporate and individual discipleship, youth group, crèche, service teams, and outreach programmes that focus on developing Godly character and serving the community.
Spirit
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would lead us into all truth, that is a better understanding of His word and how to apply it to our lives. We believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is essential in the life of a Christian because it opens the way to develop the gifts and fruit of the Spirit. Through our gifts we help grow and encourage the people around us, and the fruit of the Spirit is the developed character of Jesus in our lives.
At Ascension, we deliberately create time for the Spirit of God to move through people in our services during Worship, and focus on a grass-roots Christianity where our spiritual life positively impacts our day-to-day living.

Worship
We believe worship has many powerful expressions, from the songs that we sing to the way we live our lives. We are committed to showing our love for God deliberately so every Sunday service, discipleship meeting, and weekday prayer meeting, begins with worship.
We cultivate an environment where people can express their love for God through free worship. We use a contemporary style worship team with a variety of instruments because that best reflects our tastes, but the focus is always on letting God know how much we love and appreciate Him.

Word
We are a word based church. We want to know and apply God's word in our lives, it will change how we see ourselves and the people around us. We believe the applied word of God is constantly changing, enabling, and transforming us, giving us hope and resources through the always shifting seasons of life. We have a preaching team that takes turns sharing life-based messages every Sunday, and a discipleship programme that focuses on developing resilient Christians who can bring a Godly response to life’s difficult situations.
Our Beliefs
Bible
We believe that the Bible is the accurate and authoritative Word of God.
Sin
We know that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives. God loves us so greatly that He sent Jesus Christ His son who died on the cross at Calvary as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus rose again from the dead to break the power of sin and death in our lives and restore us to a personal relationship with God.
Repentance
We believe that we must repent (think differently and see our world from a new perspective) and be born again, and that we need to be baptised in water and the Holy Spirit. God wants to be involved in our daily lives and guide us into maturity as followers of Christ that grow into His character and share the same love, grace, compassion, and mercy that we have received to the world around us.
